Leveraging complex data to infer how the universe works.

The Center for Decoding the Universe advances the physics of the cosmos by developing innovative data science and AI methods to extract insight from vast, multi-modal datasets. By uniting researchers across astrophysics, statistics, computer science, and related fields, the Center accelerates discovery while pushing the boundaries of data-driven scientific inference.

Through close interdisciplinary collaboration, the Center rapidly prototypes and demonstrates new approaches across diverse scientific domains. It also leads educational initiatives that strengthen scientists’ fluency in modern data science tools while reinforcing rigorous scientific reasoning in data-driven research.

The Center convenes the community year-round through a dynamic portfolio of events. Each year, it hosts an Annual Conference that brings together researchers at the forefront of data-intensive astrophysics. Quarterly Forums spotlight major open questions in the field and foster cross-disciplinary dialogue.

Ongoing engagement includes a bi-weekly journal club, the monthly C4DU Frontier Astro meeting, hackathons, and other community-driven events designed to spark collaboration and accelerate innovation.
