Cheers to An Extraordinary Achiever!
Congratulations to our Center for Open and Reproducible Science leader, Russ Poldrack for this year's international research prize by Rigshospitalet, KFJ Award. Russ is being honored in recognition of his long-standing contributions to neuroscience, data sharing, and open science alongside his impactful collaborations with Danish researchers.
Nominated by Professor Gitte Moos Knudsen, Poldrack is celebrated as a world leader in cognitive neuroscience and data analysis, advancing how we understand decision-making, problem-solving, and impulse control in the brain, while setting new standards for data transparency and reproducibility in research.
Poldrack’s collaboration with Rigshospitalet, especially on initiatives like OpenNeuroPET, has fueled efforts to make brain scan data more accessible, standardized, and valuable for researchers worldwide. He and his team have been instrumental in developing open-source tools that support global neuroscience research, while also tackling large-scale projects like the Brain Imaging Data Structure. At the award ceremony, Poldrack expressed his excitement and gratitude, saying the recognition will support further collaboration, helping to unlock new insights into brain function and accelerate breakthroughs in neuroscience.
His ongoing work with Rigshospitalet extends to using AI for brain imaging, which has already strengthened research on depression and brain dynamics and promises to propel discoveries in collaboration with Rigshospitalet’s diverse research teams. The award was presented to Poldrack at a celebratory ceremony on November 7, 2024, marking a milestone in an inspiring international partnership.
