ACM-IMS Interdisciplinary Summit on the Foundations of Data Science

Emmanuel Candes, co-Chair of the Data Science Institute, will deliver the opening keynote Making the Black Box Effective: What Statistics Can Offer at the ACM-IMS inter-disciplinary summit on the Foundations of Data Science.  The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and IMS, the Institute of Mathematics Statistics are two key academic organizations involved in data science. The summit is a new joint venture to propel data science and to bring computing and statistics communities together. 

The event will bring together distinguished speakers and panelists from both computer science and statistics to address topics such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, fairness and ethics. It will also seek to further discussions about the future of data science and the role of ACM and IMS.
