Benjamin Van Roy

Benjamin Van Roy is a Professor of EE, MS&E, and, by courtesy, CS, at Stanford University, where he teaches courses and conducts research on reinforcement learning and on aligning superintelligence. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and of INFORMS and a recipient of the INFORMS Frederick W. Lanchester Prize. In 2018, he founded DeepMind’s Mountain View research team. He previously co-founded Enuvis, which developed GPS technology and was acquired by SiRF/Qualcomm, and Unica, which developed software for marketing analytics and undertook an initial public offering before being acquired by IBM.
