Dawn Woodard
Dawn Woodard is a Distinguished Engineer at LinkedIn, where she recently spearheaded the company’s transition to embedding-based retrieval. She was previously leading machine learning and data science for platform technologies at Uber; these included Uber's experiment platforms and mapping and location systems, such as map search, route optimization, travel time prediction, and navigation. Dr. Woodard received her PhD in statistics from Duke University, after which she joined the faculty of the School of Operations Research and Information Engineering at Cornell. Her research focused on prediction and machine learning for vehicle fleets and bike-sharing, helping to lay the groundwork for the burgeoning ride-sharing economy. After receiving tenure at Cornell, she joined Microsoft Research for her sabbatical, where she created travel time prediction methods for use in Bing Maps. This led to her recent roles in industry, where she has continued developing methods in experimentation, mapping, and multi-sided matching.
