Max Schuessler
I am a physician-scientist and PhD candidate in Biomedical Data Science advised by Robert Tibshirani. In my research, I leverage insights from clinical practice in oncology, large datasets, and causal inference and machine learning tools to improve cancer care. My research aims to apply and develop methods that advance precision medicine by uncovering the underlying drivers of heterogeneous treatment response and assess the risks and benefits associated with cancer diagnostics and therapies. Prior to joining Stanford, I completed medical school at Heidelberg University as well as graduate degrees in pharmacology and public policy at the University of Oxford. In my free time, you will find me on the tennis courts or underwater as a SCUBA diver, exploring kelp forests and coral reefs.
