Michael Salerno
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Statistics at Stanford University, co-advised by Professors Emmanuel J. Candès and Michael Baiocchi. My research focuses on developing robust statistical methods tailored for datasets augmented by AI and machine learning, with a strong emphasis on practical applications. Currently, my work is centered on enhancing anti-human-trafficking interventions in the Brazilian Amazon by employing satellite imagery, geospatial data, and AI-driven techniques to analyze patterns of illegal deforestation and forced labor.
Before joining Stanford, I earned a B.S. in Statistics and Computer Science from Florida International University and subsequently worked in finance and federal intelligence.
Outside of my research, I enjoy playing the cello, meditating, weightlifting, hiking, and reading fiction.
