Tongtong Zhang

Tongtong is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University. Her dissertation examines the sources of variation in participatory institutions across authoritarian regimes in East Asia (China, Vietnam, and Singapore), as well as the consequences of these institutions on mass opinion and regime durability. Her research uses webscraping, text analysis, and survey and field experiments. Tongtong did her undergraduate in Peking University where she majored in international relations and economics. Before coming to Stanford, she also received a M.A. in international affairs from Columbia University and worked as an internal auditor at IBM Corporation based in Beijing.
