Valeh Valiollah Pour Amiri

I am a PhD candidate in Genetics with a BS in Computer Science from Télécom Paris and an MS in Computer Engineering from Columbia University. After working on large-scale distributed systems at Microsoft, a personal health journey inspired me to pivot toward computational biology, where I now combine machine learning and genomics to advance our understanding of cellular function. 

My research focuses on developing interpretable, DNA sequence-based AI models to emulate and elucidate the molecular machinery of living cells, contributing to the long-term goal of building a comprehensive “virtual cell." I am fortunate to be advised by Professors Anshul Kundaje and Hani Goodarzi.
