The Stanford Data Science Collaboratory connected careful data analysis with emerging science and research communities to foster both transformative science and citizenry literate in data science. The Collaboratory focused on two major goals. The first was to help to build sustainable relationships between humans and the environment, studying, for example, fisheries and supply chains and managing oceans in a changing climate. The second was to help us move from a fractured society to a sustainable one, by understanding determinants of poverty, detecting political messaging in digital media, and building statistical tools to promote equitable treatment.

The Collaboratory was supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. 1934578, within the Harnessing the Data Revolution program 2019 - 2022.
