Introducing the Stanford Data Science Blog

The new blog will cover tips, tricks, and best practices for analysing and visualizing data.

The Stanford Data Science Blog will be a series of articles written by the Stanford Data Science Scholars to share best practices in data science. Scholars will draw from their own experiences in their respective fields and write about effective ways to analyse and visualize data. The blog will consist of articles published monthly, each being no more than eight minutes long.

Owing to the diverse background of the scholars, expect all articles to be accessible to even those who are new to data science, but relevant to beginners and experts alike. So if you are interested in finding an answer to a very specific question, you are probably better off referring to Stack Overflow. But if you are interested in learning about new visualization techniques, cross-disciplinary data science libraries, best practices while wrangling data, this is your place!

Education and outreach have been at the core of the Stanford Data Science Scholars community. From creating the Data Science Handbook which serves as a guide to open, rigorous and reproducible research, to the Datazine, which offers a glimpse into the scholars’ data science-related research, the scholars have created publicly accessible resources for pushing data science forward. The Stanford Data Science Blog is yet another resource that the scholars hope will benefit the data science community not just at Stanford, but around the world too.
