Grace Guan

Grace is a PhD candidate in the Department of Management Science & Engineering, advised by Margaret Brandeau and Itai Ashlagi. Prior to Stanford, she received a BS in Computer Science from Princeton University with minors in Global Health & Health Policy and Statistics & Machine Learning. Grace's principal research goal is to leverage the vast amount of data that exists today to improve equity and efficiency in the healthcare system while informing policy decisions. In her current research, she aims to integrate machine learning into market design, with a focus on deceased donor organ allocation. She has developed an AI-powered tool to improve the process of matching deceased donor organs to transplant recipients and is evaluating this tool in a retrospective randomized control trial at 10 of the nation’s 56 organ procurement organizations. Additionally, she is working on redesigning the national waitlist system for deceased donor kidneys using machine learning.
