Grace Guan
Grace is a PhD candidate in the Department of Management Science & Engineering, advised by Margaret Brandeau and Itai Ashlagi. Prior to Stanford, she received a BSE in Computer Science from Princeton University with minors in Global Health & Health Policy and Statistics & Machine Learning.
Grace’s research sits at the intersection of data science, health policy, and market design. Her dissertation focuses on improving efficiency and equity in the deceased donor organ allocation system with Nobel laureate Alvin Roth and Itai Ashlagi. This work demonstrates how data-driven insights can identify when an organ is hard to place and inform the design of alternative allocation policies to ensure more patients receive life-saving transplants. She has also worked with data across diverse domains, including matching optimization at Lyft, clinical decision support tools at DeepMind, and shopping product recommendations at Google.
